CFS (Sonic Flesh), 2026 Interactive sound sculpture Latex, wool, metal, transducers, sonic composition 6’3” x 3’9” duration 11:44min (loop)
CFS is a 6-foot hanging membrane of latex, wool, and mesh, embedded with tactile transducers that send organ frequencies into the material. Drawing on Albert Abrams’s premise that every organ emits its own electromagnetic frequency, each membrane carries its own organ frequency conversation, translating inaudible biological signals into felt vibration. The wool connects to lineage, the latex to skin, and the mesh to the barriers our cells form.
This work grows from a personal relationship with my own genetic body, a body prone to mutation, dividing cells without the ability to copy, edit and save.
I am researching the resonant frequencies of internal organs- using contact mics and synthesis to build sonic portraits of the body’s invisible worlds. CFS emerged from one of these sessions; a circular resonance began to vibrate within my spine where I felt particles entering and leaving my cerebrospinal fluid in one directional flow. While I was listening I noticed a glitch, a half stop that caused a disruption. Months later I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Through this process I was able to listen to something already being voiced within me- something not yet externally identified or named, but speaking through my own internal language. CFS is part of Sonic Flesh, a series of tactile membrane sculptures that house and move organ frequencies through the body. Viewers touch the flesh to feel the resonance within.
