Tumor’s Origin Story, 2025

Interactive ceramic and sound sculpture

clay, foam, latex, silicone, sound composition, Welsh sheep.

24” x 24” x 3’

This is an interactive ceramic sculpture that invites the viewer to kneel and engage with the clay form, embracing its vibration. Inside, tactile transducer speakers play/vibrate a sound composition I created. Through this work, I explore my genetic heritage through sound, pondering whether genetics/ tumors hold an auditory memory similar to blood memory. Coming from a family of sheep herders, I wonder if the sound of sheep resonates directly with my genes, tapping into a deep, ancestral auditory memory. Is this one way I can understand my genetic disposition?
